Some Progress is being made

Things have been a bit quiet around the Train Room. Life got in the way, we used the cooler weather to get things done around the house, and there generally was limited time to dedicate to this. But that's not to say nothing has happened at all in the past two months.

The Tale of the Track Tester

A few weeks back, after understanding the difference between H0 and 00 gauge, I decided to switch to H0, simply because it offers a much larger variety and is not just limited to primarily British models. I sold my 00 locos and rolling stock, and pre-ordered a H0 scale Queensland Rail 2300 Class diesel loco to start off the new fleet. The reason for this pick is that we live close to the West Moreton system, on which the 2300 is the primary freight workhorse.

Table Extension

We are still fairly tight on space - but you wouldn't believe how much a simple rearrangement of a room can change.

Software Contemplations

Being a computer and gadget nerd, what drew me towards DCC when I started this foray was the possibility of controlling my trains and layout via a computer. I have a somewhat aged, but still capable laptop sitting around that's doing nothing else.
