
Another year has gone by, and while this blog was offline for part of it, sufficient things have happened in the train room this year. The layout has made progress to the point where we can at least run trains, and there have been a fair few rolling stock additions.

2021 is behind us by over a month already It's hard to believe how fast such a busy and eventful year can end.

After a week of straight work, with a few disruptions and two trips to the hardware store, the frame for the new train room is finished.

It was always sort of planned that at some point, our model trains would move elsewhere. The room we used until now is quite small, and while we managed to maximise space usage in it, actually working in there was not a lot of fun. There was no room for a proper workbench, and generally things were quite cramped. We wanted the room freed up for other purposes, too.

A while ago I posted the track plan, which itself had taken some time to finalise. At the time, building the layout was a work in progress. The bottom layer was completed without too many difficulties, but the top section posed some challenges.
