Past Highlights and Future Plans

Yes, it's been a while. Again. You have my permission to chuckle. Amidst webserver woes and general life challenges I have not had the time or energy to post, much less make significant progress with my model train setup.

2022 In Retrospect

Another year has gone by, and while this blog was offline for part of it, sufficient things have happened in the train room this year. The layout has made progress to the point where we can at least run trains, and there have been a fair few rolling stock additions.

A Brief Update on what happened while this blog was offline

Earlier this year, I took this blog offline for a variety of reasons - lack of time was one of them, and the cost factor also played a role. I wasn't sure whether it would come back, but I kept a backup either way. But in the meantime, some good progress was made on the build, and a few other things happened which both warrant articles to examine them in detail, and made me feel like I want to write about them.

The Beginnings

When I was in my early teens, I used some saved money to buy myself a model railroad. The scale was TT (1:120), a scale that was popular in East Germany and still is in Eastern Europe, but has niche status pretty much elsewhere.
