After a long time, the work on the new layout finally began almost a year ago.
2021 is behind us by over a month already It's hard to believe how fast such a busy and eventful year can end.
Recently I found the time to start on a little project that has been going through my head for a while. I wanted to build a separate test track, in a manner of speaking, which could be easily connected to a digital central or other device, and let me program and check trains away from the main layout.
After a week of straight work, with a few disruptions and two trips to the hardware store, the frame for the new train room is finished.
It was always sort of planned that at some point, our model trains would move elsewhere. The room we used until now is quite small, and while we managed to maximise space usage in it, actually working in there was not a lot of fun. There was no room for a proper workbench, and generally things were quite cramped. We wanted the room freed up for other purposes, too.
